High, or low,
I’m having trouble drawing a line
between brutal and beautiful.
Would you mind?
Could you oblige
letting me talk tonight?
Real, or not,
it doesn’t matter for the story I write.
I’m walking around and I
find my life
under the city light.
Now, I’ve gone and done it:
thrown a coin in
the fountain
woke up Poseidon.
Dreaming of a goddess,
who did the same thing,
who’s best friend was
“believing.”
Standing proud,
both hands out,
and the biggest smile
because she knows it now:
Power,
power,
Lady’s got power.
For to be
truly free,
she must tell you what she needs
with no apologies:
Power,
power,
Lady’s got power.
Look up.
The sky is so much larger than you.
You’re awfully tiny when you look at the truth.
What have you done with your youth?
She says,
“It’s not always pretty,
but whatever is?
Be what you need to be, always.
You’ll have ‘em eating out of your hands.”
Now, she’s gone and done it:
I’m captured,
being held under
water.
Seeing things I never thought existed,
she made them
happen.
Standing proud,
both hands out
and the biggest smile
because she knows it now:
Power,
power,
Lady’s got power.
For to be
truly free
she must tell you what she needs
with no apologies:
Power,
power,
Lady’s got power.
